As a leading cyber security company, continuously improving and innovating our products’ user experience is necessary.

One of the key challenges we faced was ensuring that users were aware of new features, updates, and additional services available to them.

We identified a need to enhance the visibility of these updates within our unified portal to not only improve user engagement but also to capitalize on cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

My Role

Research.

Provide holistic solution for the challenge that came up.

Design and develop wireframes, prototypes, and pixel-perfect UI.

Own this feature from idea to implementation.

Our existing system lacked a centralized mechanism for communicating updates and new features to users effectively. As a result, users often missed out on valuable enhancements, and we missed opportunities to showcase our premium services to existing users.

I proposed the integration of a new “Updates” feature within our unified portal. This feature would serve as a dynamic side panel, providing users with real-time visibility into the latest features, updates, and available plans and services. The design aimed to streamline the user experience by consolidating all relevant information in one easily accessible location.

Research

  • Understand user needs, pain points, and preferred communication methods for updates.
  • Analyze competitor and industry best practices to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

 

Ideation and Conceptualization

  • Define how update information will be structured and presented within the platform for optimal discoverability and user experience.
  • Create mockups for the user interface elements showcasing the new features and update information.

Special Button Design

  • In order to step up “Updates” got a unique button design. Its a-symmetric shape is very different from all other buttons in the design system, all meant to make this button pop out and be noticeable.
  • The color palette and behavior stays within the buttons guidelines of the design system,

Improved User Engagement

The introduction of the new “Updates” feature significantly increased user engagement within the unified portal. Users were more informed about the latest enhancements, leading to greater satisfaction and trust in our products.

Increased Revenue

By strategically exposing users to additional plans and services through personalized recommendations and targeted promotions, we witnessed a noticeable uptick in cross-sales and upsells. This resulted in a direct increase in revenue generated from existing users.

Positive User Feedback

User feedback regarding the new feature was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the improved transparency and ease of access to new updates. This positive sentiment further strengthened user loyalty to our brand.
